Following the State Dinner, Strom returns to the Inn in the morning and informs Del’anoth as to what has happened. Del’anoth seems distracted, but acknowledges the news. Eventually, the rest of the group finds their way back, and they start making plans for their departure. Knowing that it will likely be several days before the ship arrives, their Smith decides to forge some gear for their Mercenary turned Ally companions.
Word eventually comes from the King that while the ship arrived… half of the crew, as well as the Captain, did not. He says that he has a new Captain ready for promotion, and introduces them. The group quickly sets themselves on the good side of the new Captain, Jace Thranson by suggesting that their first order of business should be to hunt down the pirates who had attacked the crew.
They get their final affairs in order… pick up some supplies… drop some money at the bank… and head out for the boat. Upon arriving at the shore, those of the group with any knowledge of Elven history stare in awe at the Hadr’tar vessel, while Gabriel, eager to be on his way, steps in the water to go get a dinghy from the Hadr’tar… suddenly finding himself snapped into the mouth of a giant Crocodile. Seeing their friend in danger, the group springs into action, attacking the Croc with full force. Dae’gurth, the Wolf of Del’anoth, comes rushing out of the woods unseen and also lays into the beast, fighting alongside Del’anoth. The giant reptile is quickly laid to waste (quickly from the point of view of everyone except Gabriel, who needs a polish).
Del’anoth introduces the wolf as again, being with him, and the group accepts it, but isn’t convinced that he hasn’t started losing his mind. It’s a known fact that rangers sometimes pair with different creatures, however it’s seldom that they find such a large and dangerous looking wolf as a partner. The crew of the Hadr’tar ‘Zephyr” is willing to accept the wolf as well, based on that fact.
Moments after arriving on deck, setting up the Arcane Teleportation Runic Circle, and sharing introductions, Brohm collapses into a heap and is carried down to the Captain’s quarters. Strom is convinced they should immediately turn back and wait until he is better to start the voyage. There is much discussion back and forth, and they eventually press on. Later that evening, Brohm awakens, revealing to part of the group that he has had a vision that a horrible beast has been unleashed to hunt him down.
