Week 10 – What-da-fuck are YOU?!

Upon leaving the basement of the Apothecary shop, the party makes the decision to return to King Rourke and report their findings, figuring such information would be valuable to him. The Dwarven King rewards them for dealing with the issue and promises to send guards into the basement to make sure everything has been taken care of.

Lynus and Del’anoth are treated to help from little friends, as some of the Artificers powder them down, curing their language issue as well as Del’anoth’s green glow.

The King also tells the group that he was thinking about things after they had left, and has decided to evict Brother Anton and his followers from their temple based off the strange happenings that have been going on. He asks the party to pass this eviction on as they leave the city… by force if needed. The group agrees that this is a grim necessity and they will take care of it.

At this point the party splits… half of the group sets out to the Mercenaries Guild to hire some additional muscle for their upcoming trip into the Elven Kingdom, with the other half returning to the Inn to discuss their plans.

Lynus, Aphus, and Meeroo arrive at the Mercenaries Guild and find two likely candidates to join the party…. Gabriel, a large War-Forged Paladin, and “Pike”, an Elven Warlord. Impressed by the cut of their gib, the three make an offer to them and hire them on.

Strom, Brom, and Del’anoth return to the Inn and set about making plans to ‘evict’ Brother Anton. Brom has come to the decision that Anton is definitely corrupted and must be put down. He consults with Brother Christoph, who he believes to still be loyal to their Faith, and constructs a plan to minimize the amount of deaths. Brother Cristoph sets off to begin spreading word to the loyal Brothers, who will help fight the battle.

At this point, the group reunites, and the two new members are introduced. Gabriel draws extensive curiosity, and it is apparent that no one in the party has ever seen such a creature before.

The plan is discussed… the group will execute a sneak attack… taking the guards who protect the stairs to Anton’s room by surprise, dispatching them, and then tricking Anton himself. Del’anoth is intended to go in, disguised as a brother, and leave Anton his nightcap, with an extra dose of poison. Lynus, with an invisibility elixir in effect, will go in as well and help if things go wrong. Del’anoth hands out some elixirs that he’d found on the corpse of the Draconic looking creature when searching for something to fix what the flasks had done to him in battle, and several people partake in them.

The first part of the plan goes flawlessly, and the corrupt guards are dispatched with great ease. When Del’anoth gives Anton the poison however, he doesn’t immediately drink, so Del’anoth leaves the room to avoid suspicion, but waits just outside, trusting Lynus to act when the time is right.

At the first signs of the poison taking hold, Lynus blasts Anton with powerful dark magic, signaling the rest of the party to launch into battle (and into the area effect of their teammates very hostile magic). The battle is well executed and Anton goes down with little more than a fiery Death Strike.
